President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi visited Makwati family at Teko ward in Serowe to convey his condolences.

President Masisi, who was accompanied by the First Lady Neo , the Minister of Defence and Security Mr Kagiso Mmusi and the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Kgotla Autlwetse, gave the family 15 boer goats to continue Mr Modiakgotla Makwati’s legacy.

Dr Masisi praised Mr Makwati who passed away on May 21, 2021 as a passionate farmer who took pride in raising livestock.

He urged the family to take care of Mr Makwati’s livestock.

Furthermore, Dr Masisi explained that their good relationship started at the time when he was still the Vice President though at the time Mr Makwati who served as councillor for Sunnyside Ward from 1994 to 2009, had already retired from politics.

He said he met him during a kgotla meeting he addressed in Serowe to deliberate on maintenance of roads in the village, adding that Mr Makwati strongly supported the idea of paving internal roads. 

For her part the deceasesd's sister, Ms Onalenna Makwati, thanked President Masisi for visiting the family to convey the condolence message, adding that the family takes comfort in his words. ENDS
