Education plays a pivotal role in people’s lives and paves the way for individuals to reach their highest potential, the MP for Molepolole North, Mr Oabile Regoeng has said.

Mr Regoeng who was speaking at Kgari Sechele II Senior School excellence awards ceremony in Molepolole Friday said education aided the development of critical skills such as decision-making, mental agility, problem-solving, and logical reasoning.

Therefore, he encouraged learners to work hard in improving their level of education as it cultivated the ability to make rational and informed decisions.

Mr Regoeng said the decision to celebrate success came at the right time as pupils needed inspiration to improve their academic performance.

He said the theme: Motivated staff and learners: A Key to excellence, resonated with the country’s pursuit of knowledge-based economy.

Additionally, he said government through the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, had availed sponsorship for learning continuity.

“This can help in creating a well-rounded learner who is competent to penetrate the global market,” he noted.

Mr Regoeng applauded class of 2023 for their dedication in school work. He encouraged learners  to continue working hard since they had a long way to go.

The MP also said he was certain that his region was heading in the right direction as they stood together in grooming the future leaders of this nation.

For her part, managing director of Bank Gaborone, Ms Olebile Makhupe, said through the bank’s  Corporate Social Responsibility mandate they were dedicated to supporting education as it was the cornerstone of progress and development.

“We are devoted to nurturing the pursuit of knowledge and ensuring that no one is left behind. We support initiatives that empower individuals to embrace lifelong learning and adapt to the ever-evolving world around us,” she said.

Ms Makhupe said private sector participation in education could help in providing quality learning as well as curriculum design that would sustain the recipients of education in the midst of global competition.

“Providing educational tools and technologies, which are becoming increasingly popular is an indirect aspect of private sector activities in the education segment,” she said.

Ms Makhupe said government’s commitment to providing excellent learning was reflected by strategies that advocated for inclusive learning driven by pastoral care system and provision of appropriate infrastructure.

Ms Makhupe urged all stakeholders to support and cooperate in assisting pupils to ease the burden on teachers. ENDs
