Everyone has a tiny spark, a talent to identify and nurture to achieve their dreams. This is according to Women of Works BW founder, Ms Zenzele Hirschfield, who believes women should be positive, have self-belief, rise up and embrace their potential.

That, Ms Hirschfield said was because women had countless talents which included, among others, cooking, speaking, weaving and tailoring, which they can take advantage of in order to survive and sustain themselves and their families.

She was speaking at the Ngami High Tea and Expo organised by Women of Works BW, Femme Ardor and other stakeholders in Gumare on Saturday, where she enthused women to be strengthened and never give up in order to overcome the many challenges they may be faced with onward.

“Even the Bible challenges people to multiply their talents,” she said.

One of the speakers, nominated councillor, Ms Keokeditswe Rangosa urged women not to be envious but support each other.

Ms Rangosa said it was thus important for women with skills and knowledge to empower others so that they can also better their lives.

“Women should strive to be independent and not rely on their partners and spouses for everything. It is important for women to take part in community work,” she added.

Speaking on behalf of the event sponsors, Mr Kavis Kario of Kavis Kario Foundation said it was important to recognise and celebrate women as progenitors.

“Women play an important role in nurturing their children and are backbones of the community,” Mr Kario said.

He also said women had potential and because they dominated the informal sector, they therefore needed to exploit the available government programmes to improve their businesses and lives. ENDS
