Employees have been advised against treating Labour Day as a public holiday for running own errands.

Speaking during the commemoration of Labour Day in Masunga, Botswana Teacher’s Union (BTU) regional organiser- Tshesebe Region, Mr Thuso Mosupi indicated that some employees had a tendency of not participating in the events of the day and engaged in personal activities.

He said the objective of the day was to meet as workers, share ideas and concerns with colleagues from different departments and come up with solutions to the problems they were faced with.

Mr Mosupi said the day was also meant for workers to introspect, come up with ways to improve celebrating the day, get together and enjoy the day as workers.

He encouraged workers to shun gender based violence, not engage in politics, office relationships, misuse of government property, abuse as well as use of abusive or offensive language. ENDS
