Wayeyi pay tribute to Kgosi Ozoo

The late second Wayeyi Chief, Shikati Fish Ozoo was as a true leader who left a legacy.
Different speakers, at his tombstone unveiling ceremony at the Wayeyi cultural village in Gumare on Saturday, described the late chief as a brilliant leader and a unifying force.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture, Mr Tumiso Rakgare.
Current Wayeyi Kgosi Jacob Seidisa described his predecessor, who was born in 1945 and died in 2017, as a legend and founding member of the Kamanakao Association, which was formed in 1995 to advocate for equal rights for Wayeyi people.
Kgosi Ozoo took over the Wayeyi chieftainship from Shikati Ditshebo Samaghabadi who served after the death of the first Wayeyi Paramount Chief, Shikati Calvin Kamanakao.
Another speaker, Kgosi Kebonyetsala Fish of Nokaneng said his uncle loved people, the young and old alike, and that the late Kgosi Ozoo was a straight talker who was never afraid to confront people where necessary.
Kgosi Fish said through his dedication and leadership he managed to overcome the challenges Kamanakao Association faced in its advocacy.
He said the late chief also strived for unity among Wayeyi living in Botswana.
An elder from Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nokaneng, Mr Lathang Molonda said Kgosi Ozoo was a member of the church and an ordained elder, adding that he was also part of the adventist men in the church ministry.
Kgosi Ozoo is survived by wife, Ms Muxhiywa Fish Malepe and children.
