The bodies and remains of the 45 people that died in a bus crash at Mamatlakala in the Limpopo Province, South Africa will be buried at Garanta Cemetery in Molepolole.
The Minister for State President Mr Kabo Morwaeng will today provide families with a full update of the burial process.
The family members of the crash victims were informed about the burial on Saturday when they attended a gathering at Kweneng District Council Chambers to identify personal belongings of the deceased.
The process was of significance to the families as it allowed them to connect with tangible remnants of the departed loved ones as well as providing a sense of closure and a means of honouring their memories.
Officer Commanding District No 11, Senior Superintendent Modise Gabatshwane said close family relatives such as the children were the most likely to recognise the deceased belongings.
Snr. Supt Gabatshwane said the personal items arrived on Friday and were delivered by Botswana Police Service.
Meanwhile the district disaster response team is preparing the Molepolole Sports Complex for the funeral service.
Meanwhile, Kweneng District Commissioner Ms Tebogo Bagopi and other Botswana authorities are in South Africa to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies and remains. Ends
