28 Apr 2024

Shegotja Molelo society has played a vital role in the lives of Batswana.

Officially launching Shegotja Molelo branch in Kanye on Friday, First Lady Neo Masisi said the society had positively changed people’s lives across the country and gave them dignified funerals.

Shegotja Molelo, she noted, provided funeral packages at affordable prices,  giving all the opportunity for dignified burials despite social standings.

The First Lady also highlighted that the society gave back to the community by assisting the less privileged, noting the donation of a house to a less privileged Kanye resident during the launch as well as the rest rooms at Goora Bome kgotla.

Shegotja Molelo society, she said, was in line with the country’s Vision 2036 aspirations.

She thanked the society members for their work, saying they were not only concerned about the well-being of members, but of the whole nation.

She added that they had shown the importance of self-reliance and that collective efforts bore positive results.

Ms Masisi urged them to continue the good deeds, saying government could not resolve all challenges without the contribution of communities.

Gangwaketse deputy chief, Kgosi Kebapetse Telekelo also thanked Shegotja Molelo for the good work and playing a pivotal role in the lives of Batswana during difficult times.

He urged Bangwaketse to join the society so that they could also help others.

He also applauded Ms Masisi for her efforts in the fight against gender-based violence and ensuring that Batswana lived in harmony.

Shegotja Molelo president, Ms Serwalo Masole urged women to join the society, which has 27 branches countrywide.

She also said although the Kanye branch was being launched now, it was established in 2016.

She applauded the Kanye branch for building a house for a less privileged member of the community as well as building rest rooms.

Kanye North Member of Parliament, Mr Thapelo Letsholo thanked Shegotja Molelo for their contribution towards improving Batswana’s lives.

He said their work was a testament that the society believed in helping others.

The Jwaneng branch of Shegotja Molelo donated a bed and bedding to the Kanye house beneficiaries while the Letlhakeng branch donated P1 000 for groceries. Ends
