14 Apr 2024

Residents of Dibete are happy with government efforts of bringing forth developments to their village.

In a Kgotla meeting addressed by Shoshong Member of Parliament, Mr Aubrey Lesaso in Dibete on Friday, residents expressed their appreciation that their pleas for better amenities were being addressed.

One of the residents, Mr Saleboeng Modikwa applauded Mr Lesaso for his efforts to bring services and developments closer to the people.

Mr Modikwa said bringing  services and developments closer to the people would ease access to services and improve the lives of residents.

He said such a move enhanced  citizen participation in governance hence  reducing inequality and leading to improved service delivery.

For his part, Mahalapye’s District Health Management Team (DHMT) coordinator, Dr Kagiso Tshegetsang shared that the clinic was nearing completion, which was scheduled for November. He assured residents that they would receive medical attention  locally and there would be no need to travel long distances to places like Mahalapye to seek such services.

He added there was also an ambulance servicing the village.

Residents further thanked the area MP for aiding them with building a new guard room with an ablution block at the local primary school. Encouraging residents to take advantage of Chema-Chema, Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) representative, Ms Lame Bogapi said that there was no deadline for applications for the flagship programme’s loans and that there was no age restriction, adding that any Motswana could apply.

Through Chema Chema Fund,  Batswana can take short-term loans payable after six months with a 2.4 per cent interest rate.

The fund presents opportunities for citizens to enhance their lives and also to generate income for themselves.

Kgosi Lekgathane Mabuo of Dibete called for improvement of Poloka road that is mainly used by pupils to go to school, noting it was difficult to use during rainy seasons to crossover to the other side.

He also pleaded with Mr Lesaso to facilitate reconnect ion of Wi-Fi at kgotla offices so that residents could not miss out on the country’s development news. ENDS
