Envoys retreat insightful official

Botswana Heads of Missions have been appreciated for their active participation, insightful contributions and unwavering commitment during their two-day performance retreat, which ended on April 12.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ministry of Foreign Affairs acting permanent secretary, Mr Clifford Maribe said the retreat gave the envoys a platform to delve into the complexities of the ever-changing global landscape, and enabled them to recognise the profound paradigm shifts and challenges reshaping the world.
“Amidst these challenges however, lie opportunities for growth, innovation, and meaningful change. Through our collective efforts, we have not only identified key areas for adaptation, but also chartered a course for diplomatic evolution that is both agile and forward. We have reaffirmed our commitment to diplomacy as a tool for peace, understanding and cooperation,” he said.
Mr Maribe said through the retreat, the envoys had a chance to embrace diversity as a source of strength, thereby recognising the richness of perspective that enriched diplomatic activities.
“We have acknowledged the imperative of levering technology responsibly to enhance our diplomatic outreach and effectiveness. As we return to our respective posts and responsibilities, let us carry forth the spirit of this retreat, the spirit of resilience, adaptability, and collaboration,” he said.
Mr Maribe expressed confidence in the envoys and urged them to be architects of change and drive the country’s diplomatic efforts towards a more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous future for all.
“Together we have the vision, the talent and the determination to navigate the challenges ahead. Remain stronger, more united and more impactful than ever before,” he said.
The performance retreat, themed: Navigating Paradigm Shifts, Empowering Diplomatic Evolution, was preceded by a week-long Heads of Mission conference. Ends
