The Member of Parliament for Good Hope-Mabule, Mr Eric Molale, updated Pitsane residents on the developments in their constituency.
Mr Molale said among the many projects that were expected to be undertaken in the district, there will be a primary hospital at Mabule to try and decongest the one in Good Hope, a primary school in Good Hope and numerous access roads that are sprawled across the constituency.
He said tenders for most of these projects had already been awarded to various companies. He also updated the residents on bills that went through Parliament and became laws.
He explained that accused persons for stock theft, rape and murder would no longer be eligible for bail.
“We have also decided to increase number of full councils across the country in an effort to expedite service delivery and developmental issues,” he said.
Mr Molale pleaded with civil servants to stop sabotaging the efforts of government of trying to get people out of poverty by dragging their feet when it is time to pay suppliers.
He said some officers had a tendency of delaying payments for small businesses, something which he said impoverished small business owners and at times made them seem like they could not deliver what has been agreed upon.
He said with the Chema Chema initiative out, the expectation was for all those who deal with procurement and related stuff would ensure that they make payments on time so that on the other hand, business owners payback the monies that they would have borrowed.
Mr Molale urged the district commissioner and others with authority to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
He said the new Ipelegeng programme catered for all especially the youth because the intention was for workers to do practicals while working through the help of CITF officers.
“The intention is for them to learn different trades such as welding, plumbing and brick laying while being employed under the Ipelegeng program,” he noted.
He said after such programmes and having undergone through some examining, they will be awarded certificates, which will enable them to tender for maintenance works in clinics and schools. ENDS
