Envoys meeting presents opportunity- Morais

The meeting of Botswana envoys, Ambassadors and High Commissioners and representatives of international organisations accredited to Botswana has been hailed as a good opportunity for the group to get to know each other and help strengthen relationships and cooperation between them.
This was said by the Dean of Diplomatic Corps accredited to Botswana, who is also the Ambassador of Angola to Botswana, Dr Beatriz Morais during the Heads of Missions meeting in Gaborone. She said the envoys were fully committed to strengthening relations and cooperation between their individual countries and international organisations within Botswana.
“It is with great satisfaction that we have witnessed Botswana’s track record in organising international Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) and transforming the country into a hub in the SADC region for meaningful international gatherings,” she said. She cited events such as Forbes Under-30 Summit, US-Africa Summit, Kusi Ideas Festival, which she said they were all proud to be part of. She said that the move also made Botswana a link between different countries.
Dr Morais said Botswana was also one of the most committed countries that always contributed troops to the SADC mission, as well as a strong supporter of other peace and stability exercises. She said that the recent election of Botswana as a member of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union was a recognition of the important role the country played in promoting peace and stability in the region and the whole African continent.
“It is worth to highlight President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s missions abroad with a view to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Africa, European and American countries with the aim to forge strategic partnerships to increasingly contribute to improved lives of Batswana as well as creating suitable international environment to promote peace and stable development.
On the international arena, Dr Morais said that it was of great concern that the world continued to experience conflicts, citing Ukraine/ Russia war, Gaza and other parts of the world She also appreciated Dr Masisi and Batswana for the hospitality extended to foreign envoys and their families during their stay in the country. ends
