Refrain from selling plots - kgosi
07 Apr 2024
Batswana have been called upon to refrain from selling plots because land is significant to their future.
Kgosi Major Tshito Days of Moremi made the call during Lerala/Maunatlala MP, Mr Setlhabelo Modukanele’s kgotla meeting in Moremi recently.
Kgosi Days said the rate at which residents of Moremi, especially the youth, sold their residential plots was disheartening, adding that some had no alternative place of abode after selling their plots.
He pleaded with government to come up with stringent measures against those who sold residential plots some of whom exchanged land for vehicles.
Selling of land, he added, would adversely impact on the future generations.
Kgosi Days said Maunatlala Sub-land Board continued to allocate plots, but owners did not keep them for long.
In other news, Kgosi encouraged youth to take up government programmes to uplift their lives as well as create employment for themselves and others.
“Programmes such as the new Chema Chema have potential to develop you and the country’s economy,” Kgosi Days advised.
He also stated that Moremi was endowed with natural resources, which could earn residents a lot of money and consequently develop the village. Ends
