Batswana united in prayer
04 Apr 2024
The devastating passing of 45 St Engenas Zion Christian Church (ZCC) members in the Limpopo bus crash has united Batswana in agony.
Whilst many gathered at the University of Botswana Indoor Sports Arena for a memorial service for the victims of the road accident in South Africa and other citizens who lost their lives during Easter holidays, quite a sizable number of citizens joined the live streamed memorial service on Botswana Television, local radio stations and social media platforms. The St Engenas ZCC choir rendered soothing music to the packed University of Botswana Indoor Sports Arena.
The lives and souls of the departed were recognised in prayer and families, friends and the nation comforted in prayer, seeking strength from God in these trying times. Also delivering soothing message of hope, faith, comfort, strength and sympathy in the midst of loss and to the glory of God through song were Botswana Defence Force Band and Assemblies of God praise and worship team.
Attending the memorial service alongside President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and First Lady Neo were Vice President Slumber Tsogwane and wife Magdalene, former President Dr Festus Mogae and wife Barbara, Chief Justice Terence Rannowane and senior government officials as well as dignitaries from diplomatic mission, among others.
