18 Mar 2014
Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila is attending the signing of the Bilateral Agreement for the Trans-Kalahari Railway line project in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
The two-day event started on March 18. Botswana and Namibia governments are working on the development of a heavy haul railway line starting at Mmamabula and Botswana terminating at the port of Walvis Bay, Namibia.
The railway line will, among other things, serve as an enabler for Botswana to unlock the massive coal resource the country is endowed with.
Minister Mokaila was accompanied by Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Nonofo Molefi and senior energy officials. The ministers and their delegation are expected back home on March 19. ENDS
