Police have launched an investigation after the Taj Boutique in Molepolole was broken into, and thieves made off with an estimated P87, 000 worth of clothing.

The Molepolole Station Commander, Superintendent Jacob Molapong, told BOPA that the robbery occurred during the holiday weekend.

He said it is suspected that the suspects entered the store through the roof and they managed to escape with the stolen merchandise undetected. “We are still actively looking for the individuals responsible for this crime,” Mr Molapong stated. “We encourage anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the stolen merchandise to contact the police immediately.”

In addition to the Taj Boutique robbery, Mr Molapong said Molepolole police have registered two fatal accidents that occurred over the long weekend.

He said on Friday around 1am, a Toyota Runx hit a parked truck after the driver lost control.

Both the driver and a female passenger lost their lives on impact.

He said the second accident occurred on Saturday around 1am when a 27-year-old man lost control of his Toyota Corolla crashing into a tree.

Mr Molapong explained that there were five passengers in the Corolla, two men and three women, who were allegedly returning from a night club at the time of the crash.

“Two female passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged from the Scottish Livingstone Hospital,” he said.

The remaining three passengers, two men and one woman, suffered serious injuries and have been admitted at the Scottish Livingstone Hospital.

The police have not ruled out the possibility that alcohol was a factor in the accidents. ENDS
