Gaolathe in US for World Bank and IMF Meetings

The Vice President, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe is on an official visit in the United States of America from April 21 to May 2.
According to a public statement from the Office of the President, Mr Gaolathe will during the visit represent Botswana at a series of high profile engagements aimed at advancing the country’s economic transformation agenda and strengthening global partnerships.
The Vice President’s working visit begins at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he will participate as a distinguished panelist at the Legatum Centre Conference and proceed to George Washington University to deliver a keynote address as part of the World Bank spring meeting side event.
Mr Gaolathe will also join global leaders at the 2025 World Bank/ International Monetary Fund(IMF) spring meeting in Washington DC.
“His participation will highlight Botswana’s commitment to fiscal discipline , macroeconomic stability and proactive engagement in shaping policies that drive Botswana’s sustainable development,” says the statement.
To conclude the U.S mission, the Vice President will attend an exclusive Ministerial Leadership Development Program at Harvard University, which aims to enhance Botswana’s governance frameworks through world class executive insights.
Mr Gaolathe is accompanied by the Governor of the Bank of Botswana, Mr Cornelius Dekop, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Finance, Dr Tshokolo Kganetsano and senior government official.
During Mr Gaolathe’s absence, Assistant Minister of Communications and Innovation, Mr Shawn Nthaile will assume the role of acting Minister of Finance. ENDS
