A decomposed body retrieved from house

Kanye police have confirmed the death of a 42-year-old man of Mookodi ward in Kanye who was found dead and decomposed at the scene on Wednesday.

Kanye Central Police Station’s Acting Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent David Nlebgwa, said the police received a call on April 9, from one of the deceased’s relatives claiming to have noted an abnormal presence of flies in the neighborhood at Mookodi ward on Wednesday early afternoon.

He said the caller told the police that they had peeped through the window of the house and alleged to have seen a motionless body of a man across the bed.

“The police immediately rushed to the scene where they found the deceased’s relatives already there,” said Mr Nlebgwa, who disclosed that the police opened the door to the room to start their investigations.

Mr Nlebgwa said the deceased was confirmed dead by a medical doctor at the scene.

“There is no suspected foul play,” he said and explained that it is one of the reasons why the man’s relatives were permitted to bury the body right away.

He related that the deceased’s relatives shared that he had lived with a health challenge, and stayed alone in the homestead as his parents had long died. “Some relatives reported to have last spotted the deceased on April 6,” he said.

The local councillor, Mr Biki Kalake, imploted relatives of people with health challenges or living alone to try by all means to care for them. “Such persons require continual monitoring, which can be done by relatives,” he said.  He urged the public to embrace the spirit of being each other’s keeper and seeing to the wellbeing of others.
