Legislators engage stakeholders on CCP

31 Mar 2025

Government is dedicated to improving citizen welfare through targeted programmes.

This was said by Kanye West MP, Mr Victor Phologolo during a Constituency Community Projects (CCP) stakeholder engagement meeting in Kanye recently. The primary aim of the meeting was to involve various stakeholders in discussions surrounding potential project ideas that could secure funding through the CCP initiative, which has a budget of P10 million per constituency. Thus, Mr Phologolo said experts would assess the proposed projects to identify, which would receive financial support.

For his part, Kanye East MP, Mr Prince Mosanana said there was a need to prioritise projects based on urgency and relevance. He said CCP funding would not suffice to resolve all critical issues facing their constituencies. Such issues, he said included among other things, conditions at Phutisutlha Primary School in Lotlhakane East, where learners were taught under difficult conditions and the transportation of learners using donkey carts.

During the meeting, stakeholders, including representatives from the Village Development Committees (VDCs), councillors and dikgosi from both Kanye East and Kanye West constituencies, presented proposals for the CCP.

These proposals encompassed various needs such as the installation of street lights, the construction of housing for individuals displaced by recent flash flood in Gasita and Lorolwane, grading of the Gasita/Lorolwane road, the construction of a staffroom at Selokolela Primary School and the creation of amusement parks for children.
