Ntsima commends Eastern Gate Academy school community

30 Mar 2025

Parents, teachers and non-teaching staff at Eastern Gate Academy in Francistown have been commended for putting up good work to ensure the school churns out good results year in, and year out.

Francistown East MP, Mr Tiroeaone Ntsima who is also the Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship made the remarks during the school’s thanksgiving service on Saturday.

The event marked the school’s two decades of existence and academic excellence.

He said the remarkable work put in by parents, teachers and the non-teaching staff to bring the best out of the students to produce high-caliber human capital and morally upright future leaders needed commendation.

It is to this end that he embraced the theme of the ceremony; ‘If it had not been the Lord who is on our side’ saying it resonated with God’s providence.

‘All of us needs to put God first in everything we do,’ he said adding that the overall 97.8 per cent overall pass rate was a great milestone.

He therefore called on students to remain focused, prioritize learning and be steadfast in their quest to realise their dreams.

School head, Dr Hannes Kurusa said the school was driven by a vision to produce Christ-centred education in a changing world and to provide a globally relevant education.

He echoed Mr Ntsima’s words saying the thanksgiving service was designed to extol God for excellent International General Certificate of Secondary Education IGCSE results for the year 2024, and appreciate students, teachers and the rest of the school community for producing good results.“We also want to motivate current students to work hard and improve their social, spiritual and academic endeavors,” he said.

He was happy that the center which opened its doors to 38 students in 2006 now has 198 students and has proven to be a center of academic excellence both nationally and internationally in subjects such as Agriculture, Religious Studies, Setswana, Double Sciences and Design and Technology.

That being the case Dr Kurusa highlighted the school’s inadequacies in the form of amenities such as the multi-purpose hall, and change rooms at the state-of-the-art swimming pool and called on good Samaritans to come on board to assist.

District’s Pastor and Board Chairman, Pastor Bosenakitso Chabale who waxed lyrical about the excellent academic trajectory of the Eastern Gate Academy also called on both government and other stakeholders to contribute towards the school’s development so that greater results may be achieved in the future.

Students, teachers and non-teaching staff were given tokens of appreciation for their hard work. ENDS
