The Botswana senior national team coach has hailed the players for a gallant display of football to ensure that the Zebras secure three crucial points in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers by defeating the Ocean Stars of Somalia 2-0 at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown on Tuesday.

Morena Ramoreboli said in a post-match press conference that the players’ ability to dominate the game and score two goals without conceding was the beginning of good things.

He said his side could have scored more as they had many chances adding that the substitutions he made worked well and contributed to the results. He also praised the supporters for their unwavering encouragement throughout the campaign.

With this victory, the Zebras is now sitting in position three in of Group G with nine points from the six games they played so far, while Somalia sit at the bottom of the group after having garnered a point from the six matches they have played.

For his part, Somalia coach, Yusuf Ali Nur, acknowledged that their loss came from their defensive mistakes. He, however, said they managed to hold on until the 70th minute where things took a different turn. ENDS
