The 127 workers, who clean at Sekgoma Memorial, put down their tools last week citing issues of non-payment of salaries of the months of March and February.
In an interview, the director of the company, Dr Molebatsi Molebatsi, confirmed on Monday that employees had gone back to work after downing tools.
He said the Ministry of Health had paid the company after experiencing alleged technical problems. He said at the time of the strike, he was at the ministry consulting deputy permanent secretary responsible to arrest the situation. He blamed the ministry for the delay. Dr Molebatsi said it was unfortunate that the situation ended up with a strike.
Employees said they worked under terrible conditions without enough protective clothing.
One of the employees, Ms Maipelo Mojewa, indicated in an interview that they were protesting against failure by the company to pay their February and March salaries without the director of the company notifying them about the challenges they were experiencing.
She said they had been waiting for him in vain.
The aggrieved employees who spoke on Friday, explained that they took the decision to down tools after the employer failed to address them about the payment they agreed on. ENDS
