Boko and Blair meeting strategic

President Advocate Duma Boko, today met with former British Prime Minister, Sir Tony Blair, reinforcing Botswana’s commitment to economic diversification, infrastructure development and digital transformation.

Sir Tony’s visit followed a bilateral meeting he had with President Boko at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year.

During their engagement, President Boko emphasised the need for improved rail infrastructure, private sector partnerships, and the digitilisation of the economy to drive job creation.

He also highlighted the role of smart agriculture and agro-processing in strengthening food security and boosting exports.

Sir Tony commended Botswana’s democratic governance and acknowledged the importance of economic diversification.

He said the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change believed in setting up a clear vision and supporting countries in turning that vision into reality.

Sir Tony, who was on a one-day visit to Botswana, also met with key government ministries and agencies, including the Ministry for International Relations, Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship, National Planning Commission, Ministry of Health, SmartBots and the Ministry of Lands and Agriculture.

Their discussions centred on policy reforms, digital transformation, healthcare modernisation and energy transition.Ends
