13 Mar 2025

Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) through its local corporate social responsibility vehicle, Standard Chartered Botswana Education Trust, has donated emergency relief hampers worth P360 000 to SOS children’s villages Botswana.
The donation was made in response to severe flooding that recently affected communities across the country, leaving many families in urgent need of food and essential household supplies.
Through a collaborative effort with the SOS Children’s Villages Botswana, the relief initiative focused on delivering the much-needed assistance such as food vouchers and clothing supplies to affected communities in Tlokweng and Francistown.
Speaking at the official handover ceremony held in Gaborone on Wednesday, SOS Children’s Villages National Director, Mr Motshwari Kitso, thanked Standard Chartered Bank for its generosity.
He said such partnerships played a critical role in providing humanitarian relief to vulnerable communities, particularly during times of crisis.
“As part of our advocacy efforts, we strive to assist communities where we operate and having organisations such as Standard Chartered bank join hands with us significantly strengthens our ability to support those in need,” said Mr Kitso.
Speaking on behalf of SCB Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Ms Bame Moremong, said the initiative aligned with the bank’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy, which prioritised sustainable community development, education and disaster relief efforts.
“Our motto as Standard Chartered is ‘here for good’, which reaffirms the bank’s commitment to developing communities in which we operate. Through this donation, we hope to provide some emergency relief and stability to families facing hardship,” she said. ENDS
