Zimbabwean drowning victims repatriated

The bodies of two boys who drowned in the overflowing Ntshe River last week Friday following heavy downpours in Francistown, have been repatriated to their home country, Zimbabwe today.
Seventeen-year-old Clement Sithole and nine-year-old Siyabonga Sibindi had gone to the river to retrieve their fishing nets when they were swept away by the strong current.
Sithole’s body was recovered on Friday evening, while Sibindi’s was found the following day near the same location.
Speaking at a ceremony before the repatriation, Francistown East MP, Mr Tiroeaone Ntsima thanked all those who worked tirelessly to retrieve the bodies from the river.
He also said the strong bond, which existed between Botswana and Zimbabwe had made it easy to help during this tragedy.
Meanwhile, Monarch Central councillor, Ms Dorcus Moemedi announced that the residents and businesses had raised P23 370 to cover transport costs of the bodies from Francistown to their respective villages.
The Francistown City Council also donated food hampers to assist during funeral arrangements. ENDS
