Kopong clinic to resume 24-hours service soon
26 Feb 2025
The Ministry of Health is working on resuming Kopong clinic’s 24-hour services as soon as internal issues have been addressed before the end of February.
Minister of Health Dr Stephen Modise said Kopong clinic was designated a 24-hour clinic in November 2023 however, this was halted beginning of February 2025 following internal issues.
This he said, led to the clinic operating on call basis.
He said the ministry was working round the clock to ensure that issues were put to bed and the clinic resumed its 24-hour service status.
Additionally, he said he acknowledges that there was only one resident doctor serving Kopong clinic catchment, but noted that due to shortage of doctors, the ministry was currently unable to increase the number of doctors servicing the area.
Dr Modise was responding to MP Tshenolo Bogatsu of Lentsweletau/Lephephe who had asked the Minister about plans to upgrade Kopong Clinic to match the large population it served, reconsider its operation times and increase the number of doctors as the only doctor available also serviced Mmatseta and Gakuto.
