A number of companies continue to donate goods and services for national flood relief efforts.
On Friday, Liquid Intelligent Technologies donated Internet services to be used by rescue workers while Mr Jin Hul Hul of Fei Da donated shoes, blankets and food hampers.
Orange Botswana donated P100 000 and bottled water while Chinese Enterprise Association had pledged heavy plant machinery.
When receiving donations, Minister for State President, Mr Moeti Mohwasa said more was needed to help those who had been affected by the recent heavy rains.
He said some people had been evacuated to safer places in Gaborone needed to be properly housed, clothed and fed, among other things.
Also, he said some of the machinery came in handy, as they would help in the rehabilitation of some of the roads, which were destroyed.
He promised that government would register all the donations and conduct an audit as a way of building confidence in the system.
“We also want to build trust in the system. We do not want a situation whereby when we appeal for help, people are hesitant to assist in future, because there is no transparency and accountability,” he said.
Meanwhile, Liquid Intelligent Technologies managing director, Mr Odirile Tamajobe said they donated Internet to ease rescue teams communication.
Orange Botswana chief executive officer, Ms Nene Maiga said P54 000 of the P100 000 donated, would be used for fuel while P46 000 would relief team upkeep. Ends
