Ministry of Health appreciates gallant efforts and dedication to duty by its staff at Princess Marina Hospital who successfully saved a life when power went off, while conducting an emergency operation on a patient on Friday.

A press release from the minitry says the team, which comprised; doctors, nurses, engineers and health care assistants, did not panic when power went off due to a fault caused by the hospital’s generator.

“They immediately switched themselves to lifesaving mode and managed to finish up what was left of the operation.

As a result, the patient survived with no danger to his life and is currently stable and recovering well,” states the release.

The generator issue, as per the release, is currently being resolved and a backup generator has also been provided to cover the affected wards.

To ensure incidents of this nature do not recur, the release says the ministry is currently working on resourcing all its hospitals and attending to other numerous challenges besetting the public health system.

“The ministry thanks Princess Marina Hospital team and all its other dedicated staff, across the country, for their dedication and devotion to duty,” adds the release. ENDS
