Ministry to start consultations over Sekokwe settlement

Consultations are to commence to determine whether Sekokwe can be declared a village.
Answering a question in Parliament, the Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs Mr Ketlhalefile Motshegwa said assessment and consultations with relevant stakeholders will commence to determine whether Sekokwe could be declared a village or not.
He said the process to determine whether a settlement could be recognised as a village involves a bottom-up approach with all necessary consultations taking place at a local level.
Minister Motshegwa said once consultations were done, the district would submit their recommendations to the ministry for approval or not.
Member of Parliament for Tati East, Mr Tlhabologo Furniture, had wanted to know when Sekokwe settlement would be declared a village since they had a population of over 500 people. ENDS
