Learners and teachers from Masilo Junior Secondary School in Molepolole on Friday celebrated the school’s good performance in the 2024 Junior School Examinations.

The school attained 59.4 per cent making it the best performing junior secondary school in Kweneng District. The school also made it to the national top 17 out of 214 junior secondary schools countrywide.

In his message of appreciation, Kgosi Kgari III of Bakwena applauded the school for obaining positive results, saying all was achieved through commitment and collaboration between teachers and parents. He therefore challenged them not to rest on their laurels but to aim for top 10 in the coming examinations.

“The statistics indicate that despite being the best in the district there were no students who got a merit therefore, I wish there could be merits in the coming year. I am not sure whether that kind of students is amongst you students who could take that oath of bringing us a merit in the upcoming examinations,” Kgosi Kgari said.

He further said the results were a reflection of teachers’ capabilities.

The school head, Ms Boitshoko Selema said they saw it fit to present the results to Kgosi Kgari III as he once called school heads, dikgosi as well as pastors and parents and teachers associations in Kweneng to address results in the region.

“Upon getting the feedback from our discussions, we gave him our concerns in schools such as some students’ unruly behaviour and he assured us that he would assign dikgosi to assist on disciplinary matters. He also assigned pastors to pray in schools. I want to tell my chief that those dikgosi and pastors indeed made an impact. Betsho! The king’s word deserves an honour. When he commands you should linger on his word,” the school head said.

She said Masilo JSS had set a new record in the district. Ms Selema further said she had always encouraged learners to do well at JC level so that they would be able to advance to senior schools.

For his part, Molepolole South MP, Mr Shima Monageng said victory was achievable because of the learners’ willpower to listen and their dedication into their studies. Therefore, he applauded the school for their performance. ENDS
