TAFIC FC have slipped to second position in the FNB Premiership log standing following a one-all draw against  Jwaneng Galaxy in a well attended match at the Francistown Old Stadium.

TAFIC currently have 34 points while Galaxy despite the draw remain in third position with 33 points.

Township Rollers are now log leaders with 36 points after  defeating VTM 2-1 on Saturday. 

Coach Elias Chinyemba, returning from a two-match suspension for dissent, guided TAFIC from the opening whistle and dominated possession, launching relentless attack that kept Galaxy’s goalkeeper, Ryan Brown, under constant pressure and forced a string of saves.

However, Jean Lwamba’s stunning 28^th-minute strike, expertly capitalising on a defensive lapse by Galaxy, put TAFIC ahead.

TAFIC’s opening goal left Galaxy’s head coach, Pieta De Jongh visibly stunned and forced into frantic adjustments for the remainder of the first half, desperately to prevent TAFIC from extending their lead before the halftime.

The second half saw TAFIC relentlessly pursuing a second goal, though Galaxy’s goalkeeper thwarted a crucial corner kick opportunity. 

TAFIC supporters were also disappointed when the referee declined a penalty claim following a perceived foul on Lwamba inside the box.

A few minutes later, Galaxy capitalised on a free kick outside the box in the 51 minute.

Thero Setsile’s well-struck shot found the back of the net, leaving TAFIC players and supporters stunned. 

As the second half came to a close, a draw seemed inevitable. Galaxy’s resolute defense and precise passing continually frustrated TAFIC’s attempts to regain the lead. 

In post-match interviews, both coaches accepted the draw, though both voiced complaints about refereeing.

Galaxy’s coach, De Jongh, acknowledged the league’s remaining games, saying it was too early to declare his team’s title aspirations. 

Chinyemba, on the other hand, was cautiously optimistic, suggesting the season was far from being decided. ENDS
