A man accused of the murder of a wheelchair-bound girl in Tonota last month has been further remanded in custody until January 27 by Francistown principal magistrate Tshepo Magetse.

Modisaotsile Peter of Maaloso ward in Tonota, was appearing for a second mention today and was not asked to plead. Peter remain accused of killing eight-year-old girl Loretta Mongwa on December 27. Police investigations have revealed that Loretta was the daughter of Peter's girlfriend. 

Updating the court during today's mention, a social worker from Tonota Ms Itumeleng Chizhala, said counselling services were being provided to the victim's family. 

Peter had sought bail citing the need to sell his cattle to secure legal representation. However, magistrate Magetse declined the bail application and adjourned the case until January 27. ENDS
