Mohumagadi cascades committee vision

Mohumagadi Mmasetsebi Gaseitsewe of Bangwaketse, who is also patron of the Collaborative Stakeholder Committee in the Kanye District, has delivered the vision of the committee and relayed its exoected endeavours for 2025.
Addressing the committee's first meeting of the year at Kanye Seventh Day Adventist College recently, Mohumagadi highlighted that it was mandated to address various social issues in the community such as litter picking, taking cafre of the environment, health issues, gender based violence, education, use of drugs and upliftment of livelihoods amongst others.
The Collaborative Stakeholder Committee comprises various stakeholders such as bogosi, Kanye Seventh Day Adventist College of Nursing, Thamatlhogo Social Club (TSC), District Health Management Committee (DHMT) and Kanye District Council.
Ms Gaseitsiwe pointed out the successful registration of a new entity, a registered Non-Governmental Organisation that took after her name, Mmasetsebi Gaseitsewe Fountain, adding that it was ready to start work.
“It is with the expectation that the organisation will be a fountain of resources for the projects designed to reach out to our community, since finance is a challenge,” explained Mohumagadi Gaseitsewe
She further explained that the organisation was established to revitalise, stimulate and empower local leadership, specifically boMmakgosi and BoMmalekgotla to realise their value in the community, to be able to respond to community issues.
“BoMmakgosi and boMmalekgotla need to be helped to understand their roles, how to deal with the community without stepping on the toes of others,” she emphasised.
Following Ms Temo Ramontshonyana, Miss Teen Botswana top 30 finalist's request for support and partnership at the meeting, Mohumagadi Gaseitsewe welcomed and endorsed her to work with the committee in educating her peers as well as the community on green environment.
She expressed the importance of making a positive impact in teaching about sustainable waste management techniques as a young person.
“She talks about Re-use, Reduce, and Recycle. Everything that she is doing aligns to our work, as we are also promoting less use of plastic,” said Ms Gaseitsewe.
She affirmed that Ms Ramontshonyana’s work and vision was an inspiration to the young people and encouraged her to keep up the good work and further her efforts.
Committee chairperson, Ms Tshiamo Gaebuse highlighted that the committee was the brainchild of bogosi in collaboration with SDA College of nursing.
The committee received accolades from Kanye College of Nursing principal, Ms Carol Shabane, who hailed it for the milestones achieved to date with litter picking campaigns and pledged the college’s continued support moving forward.
For his part, Kgosi Diane Sebati commended Mohumagadi Mmasetsebi’s efforts in reaching out to the community, saying her work impacted those intended to be reached and also those around her.
He however admitted that there was more needed in terms of support for the committee work to succeed.
He pledged continued support in seeking prospective stakeholder partnerships. ENDS
