Ostriches look for Confederation Cup redemption
11 Jan 2025
Orapa United head coach, Gadimang Tiiso says his team is determined to win it's CAF Confederation Cup clash against USM Alger (USMA) at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown tomorrow.
The Ostriches suffered a 6-0 humiliation against USMA in their opening group stage match in Algeria late last year.
Despite that embarrassing defeat Tiiso was optimistic about their chances, stating today in a pre-match press conference that valuable lessons were learned from that heavy loss.
"This is a different game," he emphasised, highlighting the team's renewed focus and the importance of a victory to keep their quarter-final hopes alive.
Ostriches' stand in captain Gofaone Mabaya echoed the coach's sentiment, asserting that the team was working hard and eager to make Botswana proud.
The pressure is on Orapa United to secure a win and reignite their continental campaign, since they are bottom of the group with two points from four matches.
USMA leads with eight points from four matches, while ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast and Jaraaf of Senegal are second and third respectively with five points each. The top two teams after match six will advance to the quarterfinals. ENDS
