SFSG takes over Centre Chiefs
09 Jan 2025
Mochudi Centre Chiefs has agreed terms with a company owned by former Kaizer Chiefs star Stanton Fredericks to take over the running of the club.
A statement released this morning by the Chiefs' executive committee indicated that the new investor, Stanton Fredericks Sports Group (SFSG) had taken over the club effective January 7, 2025.
"The SFSG brings vast football experience and administrative and management skills, which will go a long way in helping Mochudi Centre Chiefs Sporting Club realise it's goals. This partnership is expected to bring significant improvements in our training facilities, player development programs and overall performance on the field," the club said.
Chiefs also said that the partnership was built on shared values and a common goal of advancing the sport of football. They said further details of the partnership would be shared during a press conference.
The arrival of FSFG marks a new era at Magosi after they separated with former investor Jimmy Kereng last week. Kereng was credited for rebuilding Chiefs into a competitive team again after bringing them back to the FNB Premiership by purchasing Masitaoka's premier league status at the beginning of the current season.
Magosi languished in first division for five seasons, after relegating from the top division in 2019. They are currently position five in the FNB Premiership log standings with 22 points from 13 matches, and welcome high flying Nico United to the VTM Arena on Saturday afternoon. ENDS
