The size of Good Hope/Mmathethe constituency should not be an issue in so far service provision is concerned.

“In  the  past it  would be  a bit difficult to service the constituents but since we are now a full council, that should not be a problem any more,” said the area MP, Dr Edwin Dikoloti when addressing Heads of Department in Good Hope on Monday.

The meeting sought to come up with ideas on how to improve service delivery in one of the biggest constituencies in the country.

Dr Dikoloti urged civil servants to respect local authorities, for smooth running of affairs of the constituency.

He  also advised  councillors to do likewise saying united, they would overcome many challenges.

Dr Dikoloti who is also the assistant Minister of Lands and Agriculture said  loyalty was important since it promoted good  working relations, attracted the best work force and investors to the district.

He pointed out that his number one priority was to encourage agripreneurship.

“We need to take this district back to its heyday when it used to be the bread basket of the country,” said Dr Dikoloti and added that the district was blessed with good soils and an added advantage of two borders that gave it an upper hand over others due to easy market access.

Dr Dikoloti cautioned against corruption saying it should never be entertained because it deprived people of good service and opportunities.

He also stressed the importance of good education and health saying,  “you should be the pioneers of all this pillars because if you own them, then it will be much easier for you to act on them.”

Earlier on when briefing the MP, acting assistant district commissioner, Mr Goaletsa Keitumetse said since the district was now fully fledged, there was dire need for office space including the council chamber.

Mr Keitumetse pointed out that most of the positions in the district were on acting basis hence called for the promotion of officers appointed to act for the positions. ENDS
