Floods affect families in North West

About 26 homesteads in Maun, Semboyo and Samedupi have been affected by floods as parts of the North West District continue to experience heavy rains.
In an interview today, North West District deputy district commissioner, Mr Ramogaupi Gaborekwe explained that 21 homes were affected in Maun, four in Semboyo and one in Samedupi.
The deputy district commissioner stated that the District Disaster Committee had begun providing assistance following assessment while considering long term solutions. He said families whose food was damaged by water had begun receiving food supplies.
Mr Gaborekwe further said the fire department and other organisations were assisting to pump water out of the affected homes.
He said schools had been prepared as emergency housing centres for those whose shelter was destroyed or submerged in water. He further advised parents to look after children to prevent incidents such as drownings. ENDS
