Mohwasa Condoles With Tholotsane River Victims Families

Minister for State President, Mr Moeti Mohwasa today visited the homesteads of the two women who drowned in Tholotsane River in Tonota on Christmas Day. Minister Mohwasa said he was there, to convey a message of condolences to the families from President Advocate Duma Boko. Prior to that, Mr Mohwasa, his team and members of the Botswana Police Service, visited the place where the two drowned and where they were retrieved. He said upon learning of the tragedy that befell the families on a day that was supposed to unite and bring joy to families, it was only proper that they bring them words of comfort, as dictated by Setswana tradition. Family spokesperson, Mr Mabina Ikalafeng said the deceased were related. He said what happened was sad and unfortunate. Mr Ikalafeng expressed gratitude to Minister Mohwasa’s visit saying, it had brought the family some comfort. The deceased aged 25 and 26 grew up in Tonota and were close since childhood. It is reported that when the incident happened, the two were in the company of another whom as of yesterday, Assistant Superintendent Abel Matlhabe of Tonota Police Station, said the police were still searching for.
