Increase in number of travellers at Ramokgwebana border post
24 Dec 2024
Ramokgwebana border post has recorded a total of 29 115 of people crossing in and out of the country from December 18 to December 23.
Principal Immigration Administration Officer, Mr Mosele Mosele said the figure showed an increase as compared to last year’s 26 831 during the same period, adding that the highest number was for departure.
He noted that the extension of the border operating hours to 24 hour service which started on December 22 helped to decongest the traffic at the border.
He said before the extension they experienced congestion with some customers spending long hours at the border while others even slept there.
Meanwhile Customs Manager (BURS), Mr Service Chipo has said they recorded a total and 5417 number of vehicles going out and 2311 number of vehicles coming in.
Mr Chipo said they anticipated the numbers to drop on Christmas day, which usually records lower numbers of vehicles crossing the border.
The Ramokgwebana border which was operating 24 hours from December 22 to 24 , will again extend operation to 24 hours January 4 to January 5, 2025. The adjustments are meant to ease the movement of people and goods. ENDS
