PSTBET BOTSWANA RECEIVES GAMBLING LICENSE

PstBet has secured a gambling license from Gambling Authority, formalising and highlighting the expansion of the gaming industry into the African market. Speaking at the official shop opening at Molapo Crossing recently, PstBet Botswana Chief Executive Officer Advocate Mokoko Gaboutloeloe said sports betting was an emerging international business and an outlet for pleasurable activities aimed at capacitating infrastructural and grassroots development which aligned with national priorities of bettering human life standards. “The newness of the sport betting industry in Botswana makes it critical and important to set physical betting sites to enhance brand awareness and foster relationships with our clients. The physical site will also help in fighting against irresponsible gaming, money laundering as we have trained staff to detect such malpractices,†explained Advocate Gaboutloeloe. Gambling Authority Chief Executive Officer Mr Peter Kesitilwe said the authority aimed to diversify local gambling casinos leveraging opportunities for betting placements into local pageantry and other sectors in order to generate revenue for industrial developments. “The Gambling Authority has licensing and registration plan well-tailored to determine how many licenses can be issued by the Gambling Authority Board. We are excited to formalise Pstbet, it will create jobs for local citizens and also allow for retention of profits through business taxationâ€, said Mr Kesitilwe Prior to granting gambling license to Psbet, he said, the authority established initiatives to help in sensitising Batswana on responsible gambling. For his part, Botswana Football Association Chief Executive Officer Mr Mfolo Mfolo said the sports sector’s main aim was to develop its infrastructures and partnership with Pstbet. Mr Mfolo said this would help in the progression of their programmes and generation of funds towards preparing and developing Zebras and Mares national football teams.
