Good Hope District Council elects new leadership

Mr Gofaone Nkwane of Hebron ward has been elected as the new Good Hope District Council chairperson.
He will be deputised by GoodHope South Ward councillor, Mr Oduetse Pitso.
Meanwhile, councillor for Mmathethe South Ward, Mr Tebogo Rasesia was elected Chief Whip while Metlojane Ward councillor, Mr Lucky Kgengwenyane was elected Opposition Whip.
All councillors were unopposed during the nomination.
In an Interview after the elections, councillor Nkwane expressed delight for having been elected as chairperson.
He explained that during his term, he would address issues such as water shortage, unemployment and lack of roads in the district.
The Good Hope District Council chairperson also promised to fight corruption in his district, which was of the issues that delayed developments in the district.
Mr Nkwane further said the district experienced petty crimes because most of the villages did not have tower lights adding that he would during his term strived to install solar streetlights.
He said he would also propose to farmers that they form clusters to equip boreholes to water their fields and for animals so as to reduce dependency on government.
Furthermore he said, he intended to reinvigorate the education sector in the district as in the past, the results had not been very good. Ends
