BOTEPCO aims for better teaching standards

The Botswana Teaching Professionals Council (BOTEPCO) is committed to bettering standards of the teaching profession. 

Speaking at the annual media reception recently, BOTEPCO Registrar, Dr Raphael Dingalo said the organisation remained resolute to support teachers in their pursuit to professionalise their career paths as well as amplify customer satisfaction and excellence. 

“We will motivate for the achievement of mutually beneficial solutions between the teaching cadre, employer and the society at large. The council shall remain committed to open, transparent and focused engagement with teachers, their representative unions and employers as well as teacher training institutions, fostering dialogue and collaboration, prompting quality education and service delivery”, he noted. 

Dr Dingalo further reiterated the significance of council in cultivating and shaping positive work culture within and without customer experience. He said the council was aimed at optimising nationwide stakeholder engagements and leveraging opportunities to introduce the council to its primary customers, being the teachers. 

He also said the council would start online mediated registration of teachers after all procedures have been carried out allowing for easy registration and licensing of teachers at their locality. 

On other issues concerning corporate social responsibility, the council has backed initiatives such as the Orapa Athletics Club aimed at promoting fitness and culture as well as nurturing community engagement projects such as World AIDS Day commemorative event in order to create awareness, sensitise communities on HIV/AIDS. 

For her part, the Corporate Affairs Manager, Ms Mercy Thebe said the council continued to fulfill its mandate of regulating and enhancing the teaching profession through robust stakeholder engagements aimed at sensitising teachers and ensuring their voices were heard. 

“We discuss critical issues, share insights and collaborate on solutions to elevate the teaching profession and improve education in Botswana and ensuring the highest quality education for all learners”, said Ms Thebe.
