Mokwena Ward councillor, Mr Atamelang Thaga is the new Serowe District Council chairperson.

Mr Thaga and his deputy, Mr Anthony Odirile were both unopposed during council leadership election on Monday. 

In his acceptance speech,  Mr Thaga thanked fellow councillors for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the Serowe District Council. 

He promised to serve the council and the communities in the district with humbleness and diligence.

He expressed delight for being chosen leader of the council, a position that he said attracted responsibility and therefore said they should all unite for a common goal of serving people.

He said his plan, among others, was to advocate for developments, improve contact with the community, improve competence and effectiveness by providing services to the districts.

For his part, Mr Odirile urged councillors to set their political differences aside and work together.

Mr Odirile indicated he  would be working with all of the councillors diligently toward the development of the council.

Serowe District Council committees were also elected. The council has a total of 29 councillors including six, who were nominated. ENDS
