CHENJEKWA TAKES OVER KASANE DISTRICT COUNCIL

14 Dec 2024

Councillor for Kasane North ward Mr Johane Chenjekwa is the new Chobe District Council Chairman following an uncontested victory in the Chobe District Council elections.

Mr Chenjekwa will be deputised by specially elected councilor Mr Mpho Sibanda who was also unopposed.

In his acceptance speech Mr Chenjekwa thanked fellow councillors for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the Chobe District Council.

He promised to serve the council and the communities in the district with humility and diligence.

Due to its unique geographical location, he said the district was endowed with flora and fauna as well as the Chobe River and Chobe National Park which were the pride of the area.

For this he said the district required efforts and strategies that were specific to foster a harmonious coexistence between humans and wild animals, adding that he was going to work hard to achieve this.

He also expressed joy and gratitude to the council for also electing Mr Sibanda, who is living with disability to be his deputy.

"This is an affirmation for the government of Botswana through the Minister of Local Development and Traditional Affairs to drive an inclusive government which ensures equity and accessibility for every Motswana," he said.
