Govt outsources aero-medical services
12 Dec 2024
Government through the Ministry of Health has been providing aero-medical pre-hospital service, to airlift critically ill or injured patients where road travel is not feasible, and transport them to the nearest hospital where the required service is available.
Assistant Minister of Health, Mr Lawrence Ookeditse said the service was however, currently outsourced to local companies.
The ministry has made a proposal to procure an air ambulance during NDP12 and if approved, it will provide services across the country including to but not limited to the A1 and Trans-Kalahari roads.
Mr Ookeditse was answering a question in Parliament from Tati East Member of Parliament, Mr Tlhabologo Furniture who wanted to know when government would introduce air medical response in major roads like A1 and Trans-Kalahari to save lives. Ends
