Botswana Tennis Association (BTA) technical have selected players to attend the national training camp.

Speaking in an interview following the end of the National Juniors Championships which was held in Gaborone over the weekend, BTA president, Oaitse Thipe said some players would be selected for the zonals next year.

On the junior championships, he said more than 30 tennis players competed in the under 10 boys and girls, under 12 boys and girls, under 14 boys and girls and under 18 boys and girls categories.

He said they were happy with the level of competition as the players gave their all.

He said players as far as Serowe, Palapye and Francistown, competed.

This, he said had shown growth as the level of play and participation in tennis around country was growing.

Meanwhile, in the under 14 girls category, the high riding Malak Macheng beat Angel Chakanyuka 6-3, 6-2 in the final while Camilla Seetso finished in third position.

Malak continued with her good performance as she and her partner, Chakanyuka beat Rerotlhe Kgannyeng and Seetso 6-1, 6-4 in the doubles final.

Tinashe Phatswane is the under 14 boys champion singles after winning 6-0, 6-1 against Kgotso Kejakang, while Lebone Tlape settled for position three.

Phatswane and his partner, Rorisang Obuseng claimed the under 14 doubles by winning 6-0, 6-1 against Motheo Kgosimore and Reagile Pence.

Reagile Dirasitsile was crowned the under 16 boys singles champion after defeating Kefentse Lekaukau by 6-1,6-1, while Tyson Anderson settled for position three. ENDS
