Rollers supporters to adopt Lephoi Centre
02 Dec 2024
Township Rollers Francistown Branch supporters chairperson, Onalenna Tlale, has revealed that they wish to adopt Lephoi Centre for the Blind.
When speaking at the donation event where they donated toiletries to the centre, Tlale said after visiting the centre a while back, they realised that there is a need in the centre, which they took it into consideration.
He said after discussing with other members of Francistown Branch, they decided to raise personal funds to donate washing powders, bath soaps, sanitary pads and other necessities for children at the centre.
While acknowledging that the donation is relatively small, Tlale highlighted that it is the beginning of a relationship between them and the centre, which will go a long way.
Tlale emphasised the significance of the donation as a gesture of heartfelt support, highlighting Rollers’ commitment to assist the underprivileged members of the community.
In her welcome remarks, the centre board vice chairperson, Emily Magole, expressed gratitude towards Rollers supporters for their noble gesture, adding that such donations are highly welcome as the centre is still lacking.
Magole noted that the centre is not a school but one that offers accommodation, trains and cares for visually impaired children who attend at Phatogo Primary School in Francistown.
Currently having 33 children, Magole said the center has acquired a farm to develop horticultural projects to train the children and provide them with valuable life skills.
She also noted that the farm would be used for commercial purposes, so as to empower the centre to be self-reliant rather that to depend on the government and community as it is now.
Meanwhile, Kgosi Pepukae Makambe of Monarch Customary Court applauded the Rollers supporters for their contribution, indicating that such a gesture shows that they care and love this nation.
He urged individuals, businesses and organisations to provide similar support to ensure the centre’s continued successful.
Kgosi Makambe noted the principle that says, “The hand that gives, receives abundantly.” Ends
