Francistown derby ends in stalemate
01 Dec 2024
Francistown based teams, Calendar Stars FC and Eleven Angels battled to a frustrating 0-0 draw in a First Division North match played at Francistown old stadium on Saturday.
The lackluster game failed to ignite the interest of spectators, with many leaving the stadium early. Despite a relatively poor showing, the scheduled fixture went ahead, offering little excitement across both halves.
Dominating their home rivals, Calendar Stars displayed a professional performance but failed to secure a victory. Both teams showed equal determination to find the back of the net, but luck eluded them.
At one point, Eleven Angels’ left wing and striker Moemedi Mpuchane launched a promising attack, but Calendar Stars’ resolute defense held firm.
The second half mirrored the first, with neither side able to break the deadlock.
A late free-kick for Calendar Stars whizzed wide, summing up a game desperately lacking in quality and ultimately ending in a goalless stalemate that satisfied neither team nor the sparse spectators.
Both coaches acknowledged their teams’ lack of clinical finishing. Calendar Stars’ coach, Chipa Mokgacha offered a balanced assessment, neither criticizing his players nor praising his opponents.
In contrast, Eleven Angels’ coach, Rai Moloisi pointed to a series of corner kicks his team failed to capitalise on as a key factor in the disappointing result. ENDS
