The government has instituted a transformation exercise intended to equip Ipelegeng Programme beneficiaries with other skills beyond the skills development for the construction sector.

Responding to a question in Parliament on Tuesday, Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Mr Ketlhalefile Motshegwa said the process, which was expected to be complete by March next year, involved extensive stakeholder consultations and engagement.

Additionally, he said the government intended to review Ipelegeng remuneration, as would be advised by the recommendations from the transformation process.

Bobirwa MP, Mr Taolo Lucas had asked the minister if he intended to keep the Ipelegeng programme and how it would be transformed to accrue maximum benefit to the beneficiaries. He further asked if the government would consider increasing the remuneration for the programme beneficiaries. Ends
