Ministry to review conditions of service for headmen of arbitration

Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs would consider reviewing the conditions of service of headmen of arbitration in future.
Portfolio minister, Mr Ketlhalefile Motshegwa explained that the nature of work of headmen of arbitration was such that they provided arbitration services at the ward level, to maintain peace and tranquility.
Minister Motshegwa said they worked only two full days in a week and had the right to take not more than 10 days emergency leave annually and were also allowed 12 working days break with full pay preferably during ploughing and harvesting seasons.
He further explained that the ministry remunerated them with an allowance equivalent to bottom notch of B2 salary scale.
Mr Motshegwa was responding to a parliamentary question by Member of Parliament for Bobirwa, Mr Taolo Lucas who asked if the government had any intention to review the conditions of service of headmen of arbitration and to indicate areas of review that should form the major focus of the exercise.
