Church crucial in nation building

25 Nov 2024

Church plays a significant role in helping government combat social ills.

Assemblies of God (AOG) Botswana, Bishop John Tshukudu said this during the celebration activities to mark  the 10th anniversary of Gumare Assemblies of God over the weekend.

Bishop Tshukudu said the church helped protect the economy of the country since it curbed many social ills which would have resulted in establishment of many prisons and rehabilitation centres.

He said the church was a messenger of righteousness in that it curbed social ills such as gender-based violence, murder and disobedience of children since it preached meekness.

The Bishop said that Assemblies of God put salvation of people at its core.

He therefore commended Assemblies of God Gumare branch for playing a major role in ensuring AOG Botswana achieved its role of reaching many people.

Established in May 1963 in Botswana, Bishop Tshukudu said AOG was found in many countries across the world.

In his remarks, Assemblies of God Gumare Pastor, Reverend Onkabetse Baendi said the church celebrated its 10th anniversary of being active, having survived challenges along the way.

Rev Baendi said Assemblies of God Gumare had been under the leadership of three pastors successively to date.

He thanked the neighbouring branches of Assemblies of God Maun and Shakawe for the continuous support. ENDS
